The monastery by
the castle ruins
The Pemayangtse monastery is situated on the end
of a ridge overlooking the ruins of the royal
castle of Sikkim - Rabdentse. Every second year the water ceremony for the
state of Sikkim is held here or in Gangtok. There
is a large, living school at the monastery. At the same time a chosen site for Indian
tourists, it is also a living monastery.
