The monastery by the castle ruins

The Pemayangtse monastery is situated on the end of a ridge overlooking the ruins of the royal castle of Sikkim - Rabdentse.

Every second year the water ceremony for the state of Sikkim is held here or in Gangtok. There is a large, living school at the monastery.

At the same time a chosen site for Indian tourists, it is also a living monastery.
